Why work conditioning is an important part of the process for return to work employees.
We asked Atlas Physical Therapist Bruce, if he could help explain why work conditioning is an important part of the process for return-to-work employees.
“When workers are returning from an injury it’s important to remember besides any physical therapy they might have been engaging with while rehabbing, work conditioning is important to set up the employee for a successful return to work. As we also do POET screening here onsite, we have access to the written job demands for every position. This allows us to test the employee ourselves and confirm they can perform the essential job functions of their job or if additional considerations are needed to safely return the employee to work.
In addition, all returning employees from an injury also take part in our conditioning program, designed specifically for their job. That way we know they are stretching and conditioning the right parts of the body, getting them ready to return to their job. Flexibility and mobility suffer a lot from time off, if were not getting that full range of motion as we normally would, getting back on the job will create un-needed soreness and discomfort.”
Bruce knows how a good work conditioning program can help his return-to-work employees. If you’re looking for a return-to-work physical ability screening solution to set up returning workers for maximum success, contact us today.
