Five Tips to Staying Hydrated
Keep awareness on the key role that water plays in the health and protection of the body against dehydration, heat stroke and many more dangerous conditions.
Here are five tips to make sure you’re drinking enough water and staying hydrated.
- Drink in the morning. Front-loading your water in the morning, right when you wake up is a good way to start your day. It's the same rationale as eating most of your calories earlier in the day, lightening the load as you head toward bed. You will get your body up and going with the ingredients it needs for the day.
- Have a green smoothie for breakfast. Greens like spinach, kale, and other leafy greens contain significant amounts of fiber and fiber acts like a sponge and helps retain water. Adding a small green smoothie or two throughout the day will help you stay hydrated.
- Snack on hydrating foods. Fill your meals with thirst quenching foods like cucumbers, melons, strawberries, peaches, and oranges. In addition to the important vitamins and minerals these foods give you, they are very low-calorie dense foods, promote weight loss, and help you stay full and hydrated throughout the day.
- Make every work break a hydration opportunity. Each and every time you step away from your desk, catch some fresh air or reset your eyes, take the opportunity to make a dent in your daily hydration.
- Wear lighter weight, loose, and light colored clothing. Add a wide brim hat to protect the neck and face.
