Atlas IPS to Lead Key Sessions at the 2021 National Ergonomics Conference and Expo

(October 27, 2021) – Advancing our commitment to help reduce work-related injuries, Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions (www.atlas-ips.com) is pleased to announce our 13th consecutive year of presenting key sessions at the National Ergonomics Conference & Ergo Expo at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, November 2-4, 2021.

The Atlas team will lead the following sessions:

Distribution Center Injury Prevention Best Practices: Success Story of 2 Companies
Curt DeWeese, Atlas Director, PT; Kris Corbett, Atlas Director
Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 9:00 am – 11:30 am

DB Schenker and BUNZL North America move millions of products each day in distribution centers across the country. The manual material handling in these warehouses creates exposure to stressors leading to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD’s). Preventing and managing these MSD’s is an important focus for these companies to protect employees and maximize efficiency. Attendees of the session will learn how both DB Schenker and BUNZL North America initiated their injury prevention programs, the maturation and growth that has occurred and the results achieved. This workshop will provide time for a panel discussion with safety representatives from DB Schenker, BUNZL North America and Atlas IPS.

Integrating Health and Safety in Public Transit- Client Case Study: Community Transit, Everett, WA.
Kris Corbett, Atlas Director; Sara Carney, Atlas On-site Manager
Wednesday, August 3, 2021, 2:00 pm – 2:50 pm

The NIOSH Total Worker Health (TWH)™ approach is clear that improving the health and wellness of employees will consequently and inherently improve injury risk and safety. Atlas has long understood and appreciated the interdependence between health, injury avoidance, and safety behaviors and integrates this philosophical approach with virtually all clients. In this presentation Atlas will explore one such customized approach and how it was disseminated during the pandemic to a large transit employer in the Seattle Metro to provide engagement and risk reduction. Public Transit drivers face a unique set of challenges other industries do not – specifically ergonomics, injury risk, compliance with medical requirements to drive, layered upon the stress of driving a bus and interacting with the public in the midst of a pandemic. This session will showcase the synergies between multiple onsite services and how these solutions align to improve the health and well-being of its workforce.

DeWeese is a 25-year industry veteran in preventing, managing, and treating work-related musculoskeletal injuries in the distribution, manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and office environments.

Corbett has over 25 years of experience in wellness, safety, and injury prevention with expertise in the manufacturing, transportation, and construction industries.
