The Atlas team will lead the following sessions:

GE Vernova:  Elimination of Musculoskeletal Stressors Using the Hierarchy of Controls
Curt DeWeese, Atlas Director, PT; Eliza Fiacchi, Atlas Onsite Provider, PT; Kevin Kogut, GE Vernova EHS Manager.  Tuesday, October 15, 2024, 8:30 am – 9:20 am.

At GE Vernova's Cores and Castings Department in Schenectady, New York, an employee experiencing bilateral elbow pain received onsite first aid. The onsite provider escalated the case to the company’s ergonomics team for further evaluation. Upon assessing the work tasks, the team identified several musculoskeletal risk factors, including awkward posture, vibration, force, repetition, and prolonged duration. To address these risks, the ergonomics team applied the ergonomic hierarchy of controls, starting with short-term solutions like PPE and job rotation (administrative controls), followed by the introduction of new tools and process trials (engineering controls), and eventually eliminating the high-risk task entirely.

Discover how this ergonomic process improvement led to the complete elimination of a hazardous job task.

Changing the Paradigm: Innovative End-to-End MSK Care from Prevention to Medical Services
Kris Corbett, Atlas Director; Tom Dahl, Vori Health Sales Director. Wednesday, October 16, 2022, 2:00 pm – 2:50 pm

To improve musculoskeletal (MSK) health, companies must address the entire care continuum—from injury prevention, including ergonomics, to post-injury medical services. However, many companies make two critical mistakes: relying on outdated medical approaches and isolating service elements instead of fostering integration and collaboration.

Vori Health, a nationwide virtual-first medical practice, specializes in comprehensive MSK care. Vori challenges traditional medical practices by offering physician-led, holistic virtual care, aiming to minimize or eliminate unnecessary imaging and surgeries. They provide personalized, evidence-based care plans, utilize advanced sensorless motion tracking for rehabilitation, and offer pre- and post-operative care.

This approach is relevant at an ergonomics conference because Vori integrates its medical services with injury prevention efforts such as job demands analysis, physical ability screenings, early intervention, and onsite physical therapy. Vori’s fully integrated model ensures optimal outcomes through seamless collaboration across prevention and medical care.

Joining Vori’s presentation is Kris Corbett, Director at Atlas IPS, an industry leader in MSK injury prevention, founded on a holistic approach that combines ergonomics, healthcare, and wellness solutions.
