(April 14, 2022) – With a continued focus on expanding the knowledge and practice of injury prevention within the transportation industry, Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions will be leading an educational session at the ATA Safety, Security and Human Resources National Conference (SSHR), held April 27-29, 2022.
Atlas expert Nick Menke, ATC, will co-present with Albert Lee, Practice Group Chair of Tucker Arensberg Attorneys, on a session titled Legally Avoid Hiring Your Next Injury. This session will be held Wednesday April 27, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida, from 1:30pm-2:30pm.
Nick Menke will introduce attendees to the components of a successful post-offer pre-employment physical ability screen program and showcase how this valuable tool can help avoid injury risks, especially in today’s tight labor market. He will walk attendees through the phases of when screening makes sense, how you validate a program, and how you balance safety and recruiting needs.
Albert Lee will explain current regulatory constraints and recent Equal Employment Opportunity Commission challenges that have amplified the importance of properly designing, implementing, and administering a program.
“Physical ability screens are an important strategy for carriers to consider for job applicants of jobs that often lead to costly muscle sprain and strain injury claims,” says Menke. “Albert Lee and I will show how carriers can reduce those claims, strike a balance with the competing needs of recruiting, and do so legally.”
