GRAND HAVEN, Mich., March 16, 2012 — More than ever, modern culture and technology encourage weight gain, lawsuits and geographically dispersed workforces. Each trend presents a distinct, growing challenge to employee health and safety--and employers' financial health.
Atlas Ergonomics founder Drew Bossen, PT, MBA will relate Atlas' real-world discoveries working with hundreds of organizations--and hundreds of thousands of employees-- nationwide. Bossen will speak in three presentations at the Applied Ergonomics Conference, March 26-29 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville.
On Tuesday, March 29 at 9:00 a.m., Bossen will speak on "Office Ergonomics: Solutions for a Geographically Dispersed Workforce." The presentation will reveal how one of the nation's largest financial institutions implemented an intervention program among 230,000 employees at 2,500 locations, the challenges they encountered, the solutions, and lessons learned along the way.
On Wednesday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. Bossen will participate in the panel discussion, "Obesity in the Workplace: Challenges and Solutions." The session will cover rising costs and other problems related to increased obesity, ways to accommodate workers' physical issues and appropriate organizational strategies to encourage healthy weight.
On Thursday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m., Bossen will address "Legal Considerations of Pre-Work Screenings." As more organizations embrace pre-work screenings for their proven effects on safety and the bottom line, the need for knowledge of regulatory guidelines is becoming more apparent. This presentation will include Atlas case studies that illustrate real-world challenges, consequences and positive outcomes. Participants can expect to gain working knowledge of the screening process and considerations for implementing pre-screening programs among their new hires.
Between presentations, Bossen will be available to answer attendees' questions in booth 313.
