Grand Haven, Michigan (November 2, 2020) – Continuing our commitment to help educate employers on ways to avoid work-related injuries, Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions is pleased to announce we will present for the 12th straight year at the National Ergonomics Conference & ErgoExpo, on “Material Handling Obstacles – When you must move the ROCK!”. The presentation will occur virtually on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 2:00 PM EST.
Drew Bossen, Atlas IPS Executive Vice President, will lead the session and has over 30 years of experience working with companies across the country, large and small, providing highly effective solutions to reduce work-related injuries. Co-presenting with Drew will be Scott Ege, President of Ege WorkSmart Solutions PC and Lisa Kreft, Vice President of Partner Relations with MyAbilities.
Manual material handling overexertion injuries account for more than 30% of all recordable injuries, according to 2019 Liberty Mutual Insurance data. Through a recent study at a large distribution and delivery client, an experiential learning model was employed that emphasized the use of “Core Moves” involved with work tasks. The team then utilized dorsaVi motion-capture technology to measure and demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.
“The results of the dorsaVi study demonstrated a significant reduction in both risk-prone motions and muscular recruitment. These outcomes have translated to tangible safety outcomes that will be shared during the presentation,” says Drew Bossen.
During the session the panel will also provide insight on the methodology used to engage employees and help them retain training information, as well as share success stories and the results clients are seeing within 18 months of starting the program.
