GRAND HAVEN, Mich., May 19, 2014 – Many organizations have comprehensive ergonomics programs but fail to meet their goals for recordable and lost-time incidents. The causes are many: aging, unhealthy workforces; capital-intensive or process-based environments where engineering controls cannot be easily implemented; or employees seeking medical treatment as a “first resort”.

Atlas will share the key learnings of three companies that reduced incidents by adopting a blended approach of on-site early intervention and proactive ergonomics The session will take place on Monday, June 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (AIHce) in San Antonio, Texas.

Tony Silva, Atlas’ director of Ergonomics Services will detail how the flow of injury management information was expanded to include manufacturing and product design engineers, who could then address root causes of ergonomics hazards in the organizations’ facilities. It will highlight key factors in early intervention, including injury triage; examine how job demand analyses can help ensure accurate risk assessments, pre-employment screening and return-to-work job matching; and cover how on-site therapeutic support can be used most effectively.
