Grand Haven, Michigan (March 4, 2015) – Continuing our commitment to innovate the injury prevention industry, Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions (www.atlas-ips.com) will be presenting two educational sessions at the Applied Ergonomics Conference being held March 16-19, 2015 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Atlas expert Tony Silva, Certified Professional Ergonomist, will present two sessions, each focusing on different aspects of injury prevention. The first session, Six Sigma Approach to Improving Your Office Ergonomics Process, will be held on March 17, 3:00-3:30 pm. Through case studies, Silva will detail how and when to apply Six Sigma methods to improve current programs. Silva will guide participants through the following session goals:

  • Learning when and how to use Six Sigma methods to collect Voice of the Customer and Critical to Quality characteristics
  • Using process flow diagrams to document the flow of information
  • Analyzing root cause, brainstorming to develop process improvements and prioritizing improvements
  • Developing a more standardized approach to evaluating and controlling ergonomic hazards

The second session, Don’t Hire Your Next Injury – Benefits of Pre-employment Screening, will be held March 19, 8:00-8:25 am. Silva will discuss the issues organizations should be aware of when developing a pre-work screen process, including federal employment guidelines and legal risks. A case-study example will be used to walk participants through the following pre-work screen processes:

  • Employee input/interview process
  • Essential function measurement
  • Employee validation process
  • PWS Testing Construct
  • Single Site vs. Multiple Site considerations
  • The implication of employee transfer

“Injury prevention is an integral part of the overall health of an organization, both from a financial perspective and a human one,” says Silva. “Our goal is to show companies how they can achieve savings by improving existing ergonomics processes, and by knowing how to assure potential employees can safely complete essential job tasks while maintaining full legal compliance.”
