All the Ways a Great Idea Can Go Wrong: Atlas Founder to Speak at 2012 Safe Patient Handling Conference

GRAND HAVEN, Mich., March 9, 2012 — In the past decade, Safe Patient Handling has been a hot topic within the nation's hospitals and other health care facilities, many of which now have Safe Patient Handling Management (SPHM) programs. Yet nursing personnel continue to suffer more work-related musculoskeletal disorders than any other U.S. workers.
Atlas Ergonomics founder and Executive Vice President Drew Bossen will reveal the factors behind SPHM program failure--and success--based on extensive data collection over two years at three leading North American hospitals. Bossen will present the findings at the National Safe Patient Handling Conference, occurring March 19 through 23 in Orlando.
Bossen's 40-minute presentation, titled "Acute Care Facility Implementation of an SPHM Program" will begin at 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21. Presentation attendees will learn:
- How to measure knowledge, competency and culture, factors that can drive long-term success within an SPHM program.
- The value of these key measures as they relate to ultimate performance of their SPHM program.
- How to use the key measures to effect and manage change within their organization.
Bossen will also be available to confer with attendees at other times during the conference in Booth 641 in the Rosen Center.
