Electrodiagnostic Functional Assessment
We Provide a Comprehensive Bookend Solution
The unfortunate reality: Soft tissue diagnosis is often based on subjective complaints. Without an objective means to diagnose what the underlying pathology truly is, costs go up, quality of life goes down, and employees suffer. Emerge Diagnostics has changed the way we look at soft tissue injuries through their innovative Electrodiagnostic Functional Assessment (EFA) Test.
Workers' compensation law holds employers liable for bringing an injured employee back to pre-injury condition. Emerge’s EFA Test provides a comprehensive and objective bookend solution to ensure employers are protected against claims of discrimination as well as disability, while complying with all ADAAA and EEOC regulations.
This EFA Test measures current and new employees before and after workplace injuries to help you determine if a reported injury arises out of the course and scope of employment. By comparing pre- and post-injury data, the EFA Test is a recommended best practice to accurately distinguish compensable acute workplace injuries and/or exacerbation of pre-existing injuries from chronic, unrelated conditions.
We Have Been Proven in Court
The EFA Test objectively diagnoses and precisely identifies the location, extent, nature, and age of soft tissue injuries, providing information that MRIs, X-rays, and CT scans cannot. The EFA test has successfully passed several legal challenges, including acceptance in Federal court under the Daubert standards for admissibility in court.
This proprietary technology combines five medically accepted tests into one: Electromyography, Range of Motion, Functional Capacity, Grip Test, and Pinch Test.
We Reduce Costs and Improve Outcomes
The EFA Test can positively impact your current direct and indirect costs, as well as potential future costs by providing employers with a nondiscriminatory approach to determine if a work-related injury has occurred. After performing a baseline test, Emerge will store the unread data until a work-related event is reported. Upon a reported workplace event, the baseline is then compared to a post incident test to determine if there is a work-related change in condition, and site-specific recommendations are provided to more accurately target treatment. The objective information provided by this EFA test to physicians prevents costly misdiagnoses, unnecessary or inappropriate surgeries and treatments, prolonged recovery periods, and fraudulent claims.
