Grand Haven, Michigan (April 9, 2018) – Continuing our role of advancing the education of our peers in the injury prevention industry, Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions' will once again present during the ErgoExpo Webinar Series, produced by the National Ergonomics Conference and ErgoExpo.
Atlas director Tony Silva will present results from an extensive study that examined the relationship between demographic data and reported levels of discomfort within office workers. The one-hour session will be held on April 18, 2018 at 2 p.m. ET, and will detail data collected from a nine-year study of 26,469 employees in multiple office environments. Attendees will learn how to improve office ergonomic assessments by learning how demographics drive discomfort. The following questions will be answered:
- Do men or women experience higher levels of discomfort in the workplace?
- As you get older, do you experience higher levels of work-related discomfort?
- Is work category (job title) a reasonable method to distinguish risk in an office environment?
- Is computing time (number of hours on computer per day) a good measure of risk?
- Are tall people at a similar level of risk as short people (i.e. individuals at extreme ranges of height)?
“By discussing how these finding impact how we approach office ergonomic assessments, we can improve those assessments and thus reduce the instance of injury,” says Silva. “Our study revealed some surprising data, and we will help attendees break that data down into actionable improvements.”
Silva is a Certified Professional Ergonomist with over 20 years of experience. Silva’s knowledge set includes ergonomics program development, communication and implementation, with specialization in the integration of ergonomics into existing business practices such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
“We are pleased to present our findings to ErgoExpo attendees, and help them establish sounder assessment protocols within their existing processes,” says Silva. “At Atlas, it has always been our mission to continue to improve injury prevention methodology, and to further our industry’s collective knowledge through a sharing of data and ideas.”
